Introduction

Thank you for using Tab Draw! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how Tab Draw (“the Extension”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles your information when you use our Chrome extension.

1. Information We Collect

Tab Draw does not collect, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information (PII) from users. The extension operates locally within your browser and uses Chrome’s storage APIs to save your settings, sidebar preferences and tab organisation data only on your device. Tab Draw itself does not make any network requests, and has no servers, analytics, or third party integrations of any kind. The one exception is described in Section 2 below: a search you type into Tab Draw’s new tab page is sent to the search engine you’ve chosen, the same as typing it into your browser’s address bar.

The extension requests the following permissions:

• Tabs permission: Allows the extension to access information about your open tabs, such as tab titles and URLs, so it can display and organise them within the sidebar. It is also used to control playback (play/pause, mute, skip) of audio or video already playing in another tab, from the sidebar’s media card.
• Storage permission: Enables the extension to save your sidebar settings, tab arrangements, spaces, and preferences locally in your browser for a seamless experience across browsing sessions. A small amount of short-lived state (such as which tab a saved item is currently matched to) is kept in Chrome’s session storage instead, which Chrome clears automatically whenever the browser closes.
• Favicon permission: Allows the extension to show each site’s icon in the sidebar, including for tabs that are pinned or saved as favourites but are not currently open. This uses Chrome’s own local favicon cache on your device and does not involve any network request or third party service.
• Host permissions (access to all websites): Required to inject the sidebar interface onto every page you visit, ensuring a consistent experience and enabling Tab Draw access from any site, and to run a small bridge that lets the sidebar’s media card control audio/video already playing on that page. Tab Draw does not read, collect, or transmit the content of any web page you visit. All tab information (such as tab ID, title, URL, and favicon) is used only for displaying and organizing your tabs, and is stored locally in your browser.
• New tab page override: Tab Draw replaces Chrome’s default new tab page with its own, offering a search box and quick access to your spaces. This can be turned off in settings, which returns new tabs to your chosen search engine’s homepage instead.

No information is sent to our servers or any third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data handled by Tab Draw is used solely to provide the core functionality of the extension:

• Displaying and organising your browser tabs in a sidebar.
• Saving your sidebar preferences and tab arrangements for your convenience.
• Providing a new tab page with a search box and controls for media playing in your tabs.

If you type a search into Tab Draw’s new tab page, that query is sent to the search engine you’ve selected in settings (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave, or Ecosia) — exactly as if you had typed it into that engine’s own search box. Tab Draw does not see, log, or relay the results; it only builds the URL and navigates your browser to it. This is standard browser navigation, not a request made by the extension on your behalf, and is subject to that search engine’s own privacy policy.

We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, or marketing purposes.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Tab Draw does not share, sell, or disclose any user data to third parties. Your tab and settings data remain on your device and are not accessible to us or others, except for search queries you choose to submit from the new tab page, which go directly from your browser to the search engine you selected.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information. All data is stored locally within your Chrome browser using secure APIs provided by Chrome. No data is transmitted externally.

5. User Access and Control

You can manage or delete your extension data at any time by:

• Removing the extension from Chrome, which deletes all locally stored data.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and are effective immediately upon posting.
